Troubleshooting/Tips

  1. There are very limited editing (page settings) functions. Patrons should in general have files that are easily fit to 8.5 x 11 paper, word or PDF works best. Excel files are subject to printer-on's self resizing and sometimes give "preview not available error"
  2. For multiple page jobs, the print options include the option of printing only a selection of pages and to choose one-sided vs. double sided (one-sided is called “duplex off”)
  3. Just as with printing web pages from our laptops and desktop computers, results can be unpredictable (what you see on the screen is not always what you get on paper). The preview in the app is limited. If possible the web document should be downloaded and saved on the device. Sometimes a screenshot may be the better option than printing a webpage.
  4. Patron should wait until app notifies them that the job is complete. This takes a couple minutes depending on how large their print job is. Entering the name/password early will get a fail to authenticate error.
  5. PrinterOn App keeps a record of the print history. This can be deleted manually in the app. Print jobs can be resent from the print history but there is no way to retrieve what username and password was used to send the original job.
  6. Printer stays selected, so a patron who selected the color printer for one print job could accidentally send his next b/w print job to the color printer as well resulting in a higher charge if they forget to change it.
  7. For iOS devices make sure PrinterOn has access to documents. Go to Settings – PrinterON and move the slider for Documents to the right (will show as green)
