Getting Started

NOTE: The Library subscription of Linkedin Learning does not print the user's name on the completed course certificate.

 

Step 1: Open a web browser and go to https://www.linkedin.com/learning-login/go/sfpl.

This link also appears on our eLearning page under Online Courses.

You may also use the mobile app.

 

Step 2: Click Get started.

 

Step 3: Type your library card number and PIN, then click Continue

Your 14-digit card number appears on the back of your SFPL card. Skip the spaces when typing the number. (Reset my PIN.)

 

Step 4. Personalize your learning experience

Select skills to learn and set a goal, then click Continue.

Step 5. You're all set!

Click Start learning (or the X in the upper right corner) to continue.

LinkedIn Learning Mobile App

The LinkedIn Learning mobile app is available for free from the Google Play (Android) and Apple App Store (iOS).

1. Open the Linkedin Learning app on your phone or tablet.

2. Tap Sign In.

 

3. Tap the Sign in with your library card link.

4. Under Enter your Library ID, add sfpl to the end of the URL, then tap Continue.

 

 

5. Type your 14-digit card number (without spaces) and PIN, then tap Continue.

6. Linkedin will verify your credentials and log you into the platform. This may take a few moments.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

What happened to Lynda.com?

Lynda.com has been rebranded as LinkedIn Learning. You can find all of the Lynda.com content and more in LinkedIn Learning. Update any previous Lynda.com bookmarks, as they no longer work.

Is there a fee to use LinkedIn Learning?

No. The library edition of LinkedIn Learning is free to use with a valid SFPL card.

What if I lose or replace my library card after signing up with LinkedIn Learning for Library? 

Since no user information is collected or retained, any previous courses you've taken or certificates of completion you've earned will no longer be available if you replace your library card. 

What's the difference between LinkedIn Learning and the commercial product?

The content catalog is the same. Linkedin Learning only requires that you have an SFPL card for access. The commercial product requires a profile with your email address. It also has tools to share your work on social media.
