Q. How do I donate a book or AV item to the library?
We are glad to consider items by local authors and artists. Please fill out a Suggest A Title form and be sure to mention in the notes field that you are a Bay Area author. You may also send descriptions/professional reviews/blurbs about the item or copies of your title to:

If you have a title or collection, you believe will benefit the Main Library’s collection, you can email ChiefofMain@sfpl.org with a brief description of the title and its condition, and your email will be directed to the appropriate materials selector. Please include any published professional reviews. The materials selector will review your gift offer and decide if it fits within our Collection Development Plan parameters and enhances our collection objectives. They will contact you after a decision has been made whether to accept it or not. Please review the SFPL Non-Cash Gift guidelines for more information on how gifts are handled.
