The library will send a bill when an item is 60 days overdue (or at 10 days overdue for InterLibrary Loan and LINK+ items). At that point you can simply return the item. Or, you can:

Pay the replacement cost (we will waive any overdue fine)

  • If you find the original item and return it within 1 year of payment, you can be reimbursed for the replacement cost if you save your payment receipt.

Replace the item (except for LINK+ and InterLibrary Loan items, which are not replaceable).

  • Please bring a like-new copy (no stickers, stamps, writing, discoloration, etc.) and pay any overdue fines (up to $5). Please be sure you use the item's ISBN to find an exact replacement and beware when buying inexpensive copies as these items may have stamps, stickers, writing, discolorations, etc. which make them unsuitable. SFPL reserves the right to refuse any replacement copy.
