SFPL has a microfilm collection of the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper from 1869 - 2021, which is available for public use at the Magazines and Newspapers Center located on the 5th floor of the Main Library at 100 Larkin Street, San Francisco, CA 94102.
The Library also has a San Francisco Chronicle database you can search/view outside of the library using your SFPL library card:

This database contains all of the newspaper's content from its start in 1865 to the present. For some segments of time, the newspaper is available as a digitized image, or as a born digital image, and/or as text-only.
- View and search digitized historical issues of the paper by selecting the San Francisco Chronicle 1865 - 2017 option.
- Maximize text search options such as field searching by selecting the San Francisco Chronicle (CA) 1985 - Current option.
- Read today's paper by selecting the San Francisco Chronicle 2017 - Current option.
