Getting Started

Please watch this short, instructional video on how to get started with PressReader. If you are accessing PressReader from home, be sure to sign in from our eMagazines & eNewspapers page.

Access within library buildings

  1. Open a web browser and go to sfpl.org.
  2. Click the Research & Learn tab and click eMagazines & eNews page.
  3. Click Access eMagazine Collections.
  4. Scroll down the page and click PressReader.
  5. Click the green Select Publication button or go to the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner to search for specific titles.

Be sure to use a public Internet computer or have your device connect to the #SFLibraryWiFi wireless network.

Access outside library buildings

  1. Follow Steps 1-4 above.
  2. Log in with your 14-digit library card and PIN/password.
  3. Click the green Select Publication button or use the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner to search for specific titles.

PressReader App

The PressReader app is free and available for Android, iPad/iPhone, Kindle Fire Tablets, and other operating systems. Watch the following video tutorial to get an overview.

To add the PressReader app to your device, please follow these steps:

  1. Get the PressReader app from your device's App Store.
  2. Tap Sign In.
  3. Tap Libraries & Groups.
  4. Tap the Select Library or Group dropdown menu.
  5. Search for San Francisco Public Library, and then select San Francisco Public Library Main when it displays in the results.
  6. Tap Sign In.
  7. Log in with your 14-digit card number without spaces or dashes and PIN/password.

You may also create an optional PressReader account to use its rating and social media features.

Creating an Optional PressReader Account

You may create a PressReader account to share and rate articles in PressReader and participate in related social media activities. You can use Facebook, X/Twitter, or Google to create this account.

If you use the email and password option, click New User? Sign up now at the bottom of the window and complete the registration form. This login information can only be used with your optional PressReader account.
