Step 1: Open a web browser and go to sfpl.overdrive.com, or click the link.

(Or, open the Libby by OverDrive app, go to your Shelf, and direct Libby to send your ebook to your Kindle device or app. Then, skip to Step 7.

Step 2: Click Kindle Books from the menu.

Step 3: Look for an AVAILABLE title, then click BORROW.

Unavailable titles will display WAIT LIST.

Step 4: Sign in with your 14-digit library card number and PIN/password.

Your card number will be located on the back of your library card. Be sure not to insert any spaces between the numbers. Your PIN is usually a 4-digit number, unless you changed it to something else. If you cannot remember your PIN, reset it with our Library PIN Reset Form, or call us to have it changed.

Step 5: Select a loan period, then click BORROW.

The default loan period is 21 days. You may also borrow titles for 7 and 14 days.

Step 6: Click the *Read now with kindle button.

You'll find this option under My Account, Loans.

*NOTE: If you do not see the Read now with kindle button, check your Settings to see if the Kindle Preference box has been selected.

Step 7: Sign into Amazon account.

You will now be redirected to Amazon.com to claim your loan so it can be delivered wirelessly to your Kindle device or Kindle reading app. Log in with your Amazon account information. If claiming a hold, you have 3 days to check it out or it will be released to the next person in line.

STEP 8: Click the yellow Get Library Book button.

This button will be located on the right side of the page. Be sure to select your preferred Kindle device. Your Kindle Books will be delivered there.

To send your ebook to other Kindle devices and apps, go to your Content & Devices at Amazon and redeliver the ebook to your desired location(s).

Step 9: Sync your Kindle.

Sync your Kindle device or app to see your checkout. If you are using a Kindle device, you may need to turn it off and then on if it doesn't sync automatically. The Kindle Book will return itself after its expiration date — you do not have to return it. For other Kindle Book management features, go to your Content & Devices at Amazon.
