Between November 2021 and February 2022, Friends of San Francisco Public Library accepted donations of used Windows laptops and Chromebooks. The devices were wiped and re-imaged with an open-source operating system, and will be distributed to who complete a multi-week computer basics course with San Francisco Public Library.

Thank you to everyone who dropped off a laptop! The donation window is now closed. If you are looking for a place to donate your laptop, Computer and Technology Resource Center accepts a wide range of devices: please see their website for details. RRR Computer also accepts donations

How can people get one of these donated computers?

The Bridge at Main will be scheduling a limited number of 3-week classes for learners to interact with the refurbished devices and build their computer skills. Attendees who attend all sessions will be eligible for a device. If you would like to be notified of future sessions, please call (415) 557 4388.

Will SFPL provide tech support for the devices?

Devices are as-is, and we make no representations about their longevity. The Bridge at Main can provide tech help and troubleshooting by appointment – please call (415) 557 4388 for information.
